In New South Wales, connecting an appliance to the water supply is plumbing work and hardwiring one is electrical work. Both need a licensed tradesperson by law. Not because either is difficult, but because getting it wrong means a flooded floor or a live chassis.

Plenty of appliance work is neither of those things. Reconnecting a washing machine to the taps it was designed to plug into is a different job from installing a new water outlet. Here is exactly where we stop.

Can you move a fridge on its own?
Yes. A single fridge between two addresses is a normal booking, and it is what most people mean when they search for fridge movers in Sydney. A new one sitting in a warehouse, or left at the kerb because the retailer only delivers to the front door, is the same job, and it is why people go looking for a fridge delivery service after the fact. It travels upright and strapped, because a fridge laid flat lets compressor oil run into the cooling lines. If yours has been on its side, whether by us or anyone else, stand it upright and leave it for several hours before switching it on.
Can you move and connect my washing machine?
Yes, and both ends are part of the same job, which is the difference between washing machine movers and a truck with two people in it. We turn the taps off, drain the hoses, refit the transit bolts, then reconnect to the existing laundry taps at the other end, level it on its feet and run a fill and drain cycle to check for leaks. New inlet hoses go on where the old ones are perished, because a fifteen-year-old hose is the cheapest thing in the room and the most expensive one to have fail.
Why do transit bolts matter?
They hold the drum still. A washing machine drum hangs on springs and dampers designed to move a few centimetres, not to bounce around in a truck for an hour. Move one without the bolts and you can damage the suspension, which shows up later as a machine that walks across the floor or bangs on spin. Lost yours? Say so at quote time and we bring replacements.
Do I need to defrost the fridge first?
Yes, and start it the night before. Twenty-four hours is better. A freezer that has not been defrosted drips through the truck and through your new floor, and a fridge with water sitting in the base tray does the same. Empty it, defrost it, wipe it dry and tape the door shut. That last part matters more than people expect on stairs.
How much does appliance moving and installation cost?

Can you do a dishwasher installation?
If a connection point already exists, yes. Reconnecting a dishwasher to the tap, waste and power point it was built to use is straightforward. Putting in a new water outlet or waste point where there was not one is licensed plumbing work in New South Wales and needs a plumber. Tell us which situation you are in and we will confirm before booking.
Can you do a range hood installation?
Plug-in units, yes. We remove and refit those. Hardwired range hoods need an electrician, and a ducted install that goes through a wall or roof is a bigger job again. Almost every kitchen renovation gets this wrong once, so send a photo of what is there now and we will tell you which of the three you have.
Do you install ovens and cooktops?
We move and position them, including fitting the anti-tip bracket on a freestanding oven, which is a genuine safety item and often missing. The actual connection is licensed work, because almost all of them are hardwired or gas. We do the heavy part and tell you exactly what to book for the connection.
Do you work with gas appliances?
We move them. We never connect or disconnect them. Gas work requires a licensed gas fitter in New South Wales with no exceptions, and this is the one area where there is no grey line and no favour we can do you. Book the gas fitter for the disconnection before moving day, because a cooktop that is still connected on the morning stops the whole job.
Can you plumb in a fridge with an ice maker?
Connecting to an existing plumbed fridge point is fine. Running a new water line to where the fridge now sits is plumbing work and needs a licensed plumber. This catches a lot of people, because the fridge came with the little plastic line in the box and it looks like a plug-in job. It is not.
Do you take the old appliance away?
Yes, through our rubbish removal service, and doing it on the same visit saves a second call-out. Fridges and freezers have to be degassed before disposal and go to a whitegoods recycler rather than landfill, which is why councils will not take them in a kerbside pickup.
What if you find something that needs a licensed trade?
We stop, tell you, and do not charge you for the part we cannot legally complete. You get told what trade to book and what to ask them for, so you are not calling a plumber to describe a problem you have not seen. We would rather leave a job half done and explain why than connect something that voids your warranty and your home insurance.
