Flat Pack & Furniture Assembly in Melbourne
Flat pack assembly in Melbourne for anything that arrived in a box. IKEA, Fantastic, Freedom, Koala or a marketplace find with no instructions. Built square, anchored to the wall, and the cardboard leaves with us.

Why flat pack fails, and why the anchor matters most
Almost nothing fails because the person was not handy. It fails for four reasons, and one of them is dangerous.
-
In Victoria you can anchor a rental wall
Most renters assume they need permission and leave the bracket in the bag. In Victoria you do not. Wall anchors to secure furniture sit on the list of changes a renter can make without consent. That covers every surface except exposed brick or concrete. For those two you ask, and consent cannot be refused without good reason.
-
The anchor is often not in the box
A mandatory information standard for toppling furniture has applied Australia wide since May 2025. It covers units over about 686mm tall. It sets what warnings must come with the furniture. It does not force the maker to include a restraint. We carry our own fixings for timber, plaster and masonry.
-
Built out of square
Cam locks get tightened in the wrong order and the carcass racks a few millimetres. The doors never sit right after that, and the drawers rub. Fixing it means pulling the whole thing apart, which is the expensive version.
-
Built in the wrong room
A wardrobe assembled in the lounge does not always fit back through a terrace doorway. We check where it is going, and what it has to pass through, before the first screw.
Furniture we assemble and dismantle
-
Wardrobes and robes
The tallest thing in most bedrooms, and the one that must be anchored.
-
Beds and bed bases
Slats, storage drawers and headboards. Built in the room they stay in.
-
Modular sofas
Koala, Castlery and the rest. Clipped together and squared up.
-
Bookcases and shelving
Tall, light and top heavy. Anchored every time, no exceptions.
-
Desks and office chairs
Standing desks, gaming setups and the home office that never got finished.
-
Dining tables
Legs, extensions and the bolts that need checking again in a month.
-
Kids' furniture
Bunks, change tables and cots. The anchoring here is not optional.
-
Outdoor settings
Decking furniture, BBQs and trampolines, built on site in the yard.
Dismantled here, rebuilt there
Flat pack was engineered to be built once. Every time a cam lock comes out and goes back in, its hole gets a little looser.
That is why we dismantle only what has to come apart. A wardrobe that will not clear a Fitzroy staircase comes apart. One that will fit through the door travels whole, wrapped and strapped.
Parts go in labelled bags taped to the piece they belong to. Nothing ends up in a shared container at the bottom of a box. That is how people lose a week looking for eight bolts.
Booked your move with us? Assembly runs on the same job, not as a separate visit. The crew who took it apart are the crew who put it back together.
How furniture assembly is priced
Hourly, with a minimum booking. The number of items matters less than how fiddly they are.

Fixings supplied by us
Book the whole room, not one piece
Most of a short booking is travel and setup. Two items cost barely more than one, and a full bedroom is the best value we do.
If the flat pack is still in the car, wait. Tell us when the delivery lands and we book around it. Nobody wants a crew waiting in the hallway for a van.
What affects your quote
-
What it is
A bedside table and a wardrobe are not the same hour.
-
How many
A whole bedroom at once is cheaper per item than one piece.
-
Wall type
Plaster, timber stud or masonry. Masonry takes longer.
-
Where it goes
Third floor walk-up adds carrying time before anything is built.
-
Instructions
A marketplace find with no manual is slower. Still doable.
-
Dismantling
Taking apart is quicker than building, but it is still time.
What we turn up with
Proper drivers
Not the folded allen key. Torque set so cam locks seat without stripping.
Anchors for any wall
Plaster, timber stud and masonry fixings on the van, every job.
Stud finder and level
So the bracket hits something solid and the unit stands true.
Floor protection
Mats down before the carcass goes on your boards or tiles.
How an assembly booking runs
-
01 Step
Tell us the items
Brand and product name off the box is ideal. A photo works too.
-
02 Step
We book around delivery
Pick a slot after the furniture lands, not before. Seven days a week.
-
03 Step
Built in the right room
Parts checked, assembled square, doors and drawers adjusted to line up.
-
04 Step
Anchored and cleared
Fixed to the wall where it needs it, positioned, and the cardboard goes.
Four things worth knowing before you book
-
Anchoring is standard
Not an upsell. If the item needs a restraint, it gets one.
-
We bring the fixings
Plaster, stud or masonry. The box rarely contains what your wall needs.
-
The packaging leaves
Flattened and gone. A flat pack delivery makes a lot of cardboard.
-
Same crew as your move
If it is booked with a removal, the people who took it apart rebuild it.
Furniture assembly anywhere in Melbourne
Metro wide, seven days. Victoria has IKEA stores at Springvale and Richmond, plus collection points at Truganina, Pakenham and Geelong. Wherever yours came from, it arrives flat and it still has to be built.
