Appliance & Fridge Movers in Melbourne

Fridge movers in Melbourne for whitegoods that are too heavy, too awkward or too expensive to risk. We disconnect, move upright and reconnect to the taps and points already there. Where the law says a licensed trade, we say so.

What we can connect, and what needs a licensed trade

Victoria is strict about this, and it is written down. Here is the honest line, so nobody wastes a booking.

We can do

  • Fridges and freezers, moved and plugged in
  • Washing machines to existing taps
  • Dryers onto an existing wall bracket
  • Dishwashers to an existing connection point
  • Plug-in ovens and benchtop appliances
  • Levelling and adjusting feet in place
  • Transit bolts out of a new washer
  • Run-testing before we leave
  • Taking the old unit away

Needs a licensed trade

  • Hardwiring an oven or cooktop
  • Any new wiring, point or circuit
  • Anything gas, including a gas cooktop
  • New pipework or a new tap
  • Moving a waste or drain point
  • Split system air conditioning
  • Reclaiming or charging refrigerant
  • Hot water service connections
  • Anything needing a compliance certificate

Appliances we disconnect, move and reconnect

  • Fridges and freezers

The most common job. Upright the whole way, then standing time before power.

  • Washing machines

Hoses drained, transit bolts handled, reconnected to the taps already there.

  • Dryers

Off the bracket and back onto one. Vented models need the duct sorted too.

  • Dishwashers

Freestanding or slide-out, back onto an existing connection point.

  • Plug-in ovens

If it unplugs, we move it. If it is hardwired, an electrician unplugs it.

  • Wine fridges

Heavy, glass-fronted and easy to damage. Moved upright and settled.

  • Chest freezers

Awkward rather than heavy. Defrosted first, or you move water, not a freezer.

  • Second-hand buys

Picked up from the seller and installed at yours. Tell us the stairs at both ends.

Why we tell you where we stop

In Victoria, electrical installation work must be done by a licensed electrician. They then issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety. It is a legal document that makes them accountable for the work.

Plumbing is similar. A compliance certificate is required once the total value of plumbing work passes $750. Also for any Type A gas appliance, regardless of cost. A removalist cannot issue either of those. Anyone who says otherwise is the wrong person to let near your kitchen.

What affects your quote

  • Stairs and access

A fridge up a terrace staircase is the whole job.

  • Doorway widths

French door fridges often need a door off first.

  • How many

Kitchen and laundry together beats two separate visits.

  • Pickup involved

Collecting from a seller or a store adds a leg.

  • Disposal

Taking the old one away, priced with the rubbish service.

  • Apartment access

Lift and dock windows in a tower, same as a move.

How an appliance booking runs

  1. 01 Step

    Tell us the appliance

Brand, model and where it is going. Photos of the doorway and stairs help most.

  2. 02 Step

    Prep the day before

Empty and defrost the fridge. Run the washer dry. We will send a short list.

  3. 03 Step

    Disconnect and move

Taps off, hoses drained, unit upright on a climber. Floors covered on the route.

  4. 04 Step

    Reconnect and test

Levelled, reconnected to existing outlets, and run through a cycle before we go.

Four things worth knowing about moving whitegoods

  1. Upright, not on its side

Laying a fridge down pushes compressor oil where it does not belong.

  2. Standing time is per model

Ten minutes for some, a full day for others. We check yours, not a rule of thumb.

  3. We run-test it

Plugged in is not tested. A leaking hose shows up in the first cycle.

  4. We say no clearly

Hardwired and gas work goes to a licensed trade. We will tell you which one.

Appliance and fridge movers, Melbourne wide

Metro wide, seven days. Most of the hard jobs are inner city. A French door fridge has to clear a terrace hallway. Or go up in a lift never built for it.

Appliance installation questions, answered

Can you move just a fridge?
Yes, as a standalone job. Two crew, a stair climber and a truck. Tell us the stairs and doorway widths at both ends and you get a price.
How long before I can turn the fridge on?
It depends entirely on the model. Some makers say ten minutes if it stayed upright. Others say two hours, four hours, or up to a day. We check your manual rather than quoting a rule of thumb.
Why does standing time matter?
It is about compressor oil, not gas. Tilting lets oil move into lines where it should not sit. Running the compressor before it drains back is what kills fridges after a move.
Can you lay it down if it will not fit?
We will not, and nor should anyone. If it genuinely will not go upright, the answer is taking a door off, not tipping the fridge.
Can you install my new oven?
If it plugs in, yes. If it is hardwired, no. In Victoria that is electrical installation work. A licensed electrician has to do it and issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety.
What is a Certificate of Electrical Safety?
A legal document the electrician issues for electrical installation work in Victoria. It makes them accountable for what they did. A removalist cannot issue one.
Can you connect a gas cooktop?
No, and this one is not negotiable. Gas appliances need a licensed plumber. In Victoria a Type A gas appliance needs a compliance certificate regardless of cost.
What about plumbing for a dishwasher?
We reconnect to an existing connection point. New pipework, a new tap or a moved waste is plumbing work. A compliance certificate is required once the value passes $750.
Can you move a split system air conditioner?
No. Handling refrigerant without an ARC licence is an offence. A licensed refrigeration technician decommissions it and reinstalls it.
Do you take the old appliance away?
Yes. Old whitegoods count as e-waste in Victoria and cannot go to landfill. It goes to a licensed recycler rather than the tip.
What should I do before you arrive?
Empty and defrost the fridge, and run the washing machine dry. We send a short list when the booking is confirmed so nothing gets missed.
Is the appliance insured while you move it?
We carry $1M public liability and goods in transit cover. For anything integrated or high value, mention it at quote stage so it is documented before the day.
