Interstate Removals from Sydney

Interstate removals go wrong in the handovers. Most long-distance moves in Australia are relays: one company loads you, a depot takes it, a second truck carries it, and people you have never spoken to unload it at the other end. We run one truck, one crew and one fixed price from Sydney to your new front door.

UNN Movers coordinator and warehouse crew checking an interstate consignment at the Parramatta hub

How we run interstate

Every interstate move starts or ends in Sydney

Most interstate removals in Australia are relays. Your load is picked up by one company, dropped at a depot, transferred to a second truck, and unloaded by people who have never spoken to you. Every handover is a chance for something to get lost, crushed or delayed, and when it does, nobody owns it.

We run a single hub out of Parramatta rather than depots in every capital. Your furniture is loaded once and unloaded once, by the same crew, with the same coordinator across the whole job.

That is why every route we run has Sydney at one end. It is a deliberate limit, not a gap in coverage. We move Sydney to Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Canberra, Adelaide and Hobart, plus long-distance runs across regional NSW. We do not run to Perth or Darwin, and we would rather say so than take a booking we cannot do properly.

Every size of move

Interstate removals we handle

  • Full household relocations

Three, four and five bedroom homes moved in a single load, with nothing left for a second run.

  • Apartment & small home moves

Studios and one to two bedroom units, priced on the space you actually use.

  • Part loads & small consignments

A room, a few pieces of furniture or a single item. You pay for your share of the truck.

  • Student & share house moves

One room going interstate for uni or a new job. Small loads, same fixed price basis.

  • Office & commercial

Business relocations planned around your trading hours at both ends.

  • Regional NSW long-distance

Sydney out to the New England, Central West and North West on the same fixed price basis.

  • Storage in transit

When the two dates don’t line up, we hold everything and deliver when you are ready.

  • Piano & heavy items

Pianos, safes and pool tables crated and secured for the long haul.

The other direction

Moving to Sydney from another capital

Half of what we run goes the other way. Melbourne to Sydney, Brisbane to Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, the Gold Coast and Hobart, all on the same schedule and the same fixed price.

The difference is who meets you at this end. On a relay you get a delivery crew who have never seen your inventory. On ours, the coordinator who quoted the job is the one confirming your delivery window, and the crew unloading in Sydney is the crew who loaded you.

Coming into Sydney adds one thing a departure does not: the building. Lift bookings, dock windows and a Certificate of Currency for strata all have to be sorted before a truck arrives from interstate, and there is no second attempt if the dock is shut. Give us the new address early and we deal with the building while the load is still on the road.

If your new place is not ready, we hold the load in storage and deliver when it is. That is a normal outcome on a long move, not a problem.

Pricing

How much interstate removals cost

Interstate removals are quoted as a fixed price, not by the hour. Once we know the volume and the route, the number is settled before we load, so a slow day at either end costs you nothing.

Why cheap interstate quotes get expensive

The lowest interstate quote is usually a relay. Your load changes trucks once or twice, sits in a depot between legs, and the price you agreed was an estimate that gets re-measured at pickup once you have already committed.

We measure the volume before quoting, so the number you agree to is the number you pay. No depot fees, no re-measure on the day, and no second company you have never heard of touching your furniture.

The trade-off is honest: a dedicated run costs more than a relay, and we will not pretend otherwise. What you get for it is one crew, one insurer and one person to ring.

What affects your quote

  • Volume

How many cubic metres your load takes up on the truck.

  • Route

Sydney to Canberra costs far less per cubic metre than Adelaide or Hobart.

  • Access at both ends

Stairs, lifts, long carries and whether a semi can reach the door.

  • Packing

Whether you pack, we do the fragile items, or we do the lot.

  • Storage

Whether we hold the load between pickup and delivery.

  • Timing

End of month and school holiday departures fill first and move fastest.

Fleet & equipment

Built for long-distance, not just across town

An interstate load spends days on the road. What holds up over 900 kilometres is different from what survives a trip to the next suburb.

Long-haul trucks

8 to 10 tonne vehicles running scheduled routes, loaded once and sealed.

No depot transfers

Your furniture is not unloaded and reloaded halfway. One truck, one crew, one journey.

GPS tracked

Follow your load across the country and know the day before it arrives.

Secured for distance

Blankets, straps, edge protection and load bars so nothing shifts on the highway.

Follow your load instead of ringing a call centre.

A delivery window in writing, not a vague fortnight.

  3. No cancellation fees

Cancel 24 hours out and the deposit comes back.

  4. One dedicated coordinator

The same person in Sydney and at delivery.

Routes

Where we run from Sydney

Scheduled departures to six capitals, plus long-distance runs across regional NSW. Every route has Sydney at one end, which is how we keep the same crew on your load from pickup to delivery. We do not run to Perth or Darwin.

  • Sydney to Melbourne

Our busiest corridor and the most booked removalist Sydney to Melbourne run we operate. Multiple departures most weeks.

  • Sydney to Brisbane

Weekly up the coast, with drops through the Mid North Coast and Northern Rivers on the way.

  • Sydney to Gold Coast

Removalists Sydney to Gold Coast on the same weekly schedule as the Brisbane run.

  • Sydney to Canberra

Close enough for a single day run. Popular with relocating staff and government moves.

  • Sydney to Adelaide

Direct across, with no transfers and no depot handovers along the way.

  • Sydney to Hobart

Booked around the ferry crossing, so the volume and dates get confirmed early.

  • Moving into Sydney

Every route runs both ways. Same crew, same fixed price, coming back the other direction.

  • Interstate office moves

Commercial relocations between Sydney and any city we run to, scheduled around your trading hours.

  • Storage in transit

When the dates don’t meet, we hold the load and deliver on the day you are ready.

Regional NSW long-distance runs

Long-distance doesn’t have to cross a border. We run the same fixed price service out to regional NSW, where a lot of removalists either won’t go or charge a metro day rate for the drive.

  • Sydney to Armidale removalists
  • Sydney to Inverell removalists
  • Sydney to Glen Innes removalists
  • Sydney to Gunnedah removalists
  • Sydney to Cowra removalists
  • Sydney to Forbes removalists
  • Sydney to Tamworth & Dubbo
  • Sydney to Orange & Bathurst
  • Sydney to Newcastle & the Hunter
  • Sydney to Wollongong & the Illawarra
  • Sydney to the Central Coast
  • Sydney to the Blue Mountains

Packages

Packages that cover interstate moves

Interstate moves are a fixed price on any package. Finish a move and credit goes onto your UNN account, worth face value against any future service.

Services people book with an interstate move

A long-haul move usually needs more than a truck. These are the extras people add to an interstate job, at one end or both.

Questions

Interstate removals questions, answered

How much do interstate removals cost?
Interstate removals are quoted as a fixed price based on the volume of your load, the route and the access at both ends. Sydney to Canberra costs considerably less per cubic metre than Adelaide or Hobart. Send a room by room list and both addresses and you will have a written fixed price within two hours.
Is the price fixed or an estimate?
Fixed. We measure the volume before quoting, so the number you agree to is the number you pay. The common problem with cheap interstate quotes is that they are estimates which get re-measured at pickup, once you have already committed.
Which cities do you actually go to?
Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Canberra, Adelaide and Hobart, plus long-distance runs across regional NSW. We do not run to Perth or Darwin. We would rather tell you that now than take the booking and hand your load to someone else halfway.
Do interstate moves have to start or end in Sydney?
Yes. Every route we run has Sydney at one end, because that is what lets the same crew load and unload your furniture. We do not take Melbourne to Brisbane jobs or anything else that skips Sydney.
How long does interstate delivery take?
It depends on the route. Sydney to Canberra can be a single day. Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast are usually a few days. Adelaide and Hobart take longer because of the distance and, for Hobart, the ferry crossing. You get a delivery window confirmed in writing before we load.
What is a delivery window?
A range of days during which your load will arrive, agreed before departure and put in writing. It is a range rather than a single date because road conditions and access at the other end move things by a day either way. What it is not is a vague fortnight.
Do you take a deposit?
Interstate bookings take a 50% deposit to hold the run, because a scheduled departure is space we cannot resell at short notice. Cancel more than 24 hours before the job and it comes back in full, so there is no cancellation fee.
Are my belongings insured across the whole journey?
Yes. We carry $1 million public liability and goods in transit cover, and it applies from pickup in Sydney through to delivery. Because there are no depot transfers, one insurer covers the entire trip rather than the cover changing hands halfway.
Is it really the same crew at both ends?
Yes, and it is the main reason we only run routes with Sydney at one end. The crew who load you are our own staff, not subcontractors, and they are the ones who unload. Nothing is transferred to another company or left in a depot.
Do you do part loads or small consignments?
Yes. A single room, a few pieces of furniture or one item is fine, and you pay for the space your load takes rather than a whole truck. Part loads share a scheduled departure with other consignments.
Can you store my furniture if the dates don’t line up?
Yes, and it is common on interstate moves. We hold the load in storage and deliver when your new place is ready. It is billed monthly with no lock in.
Do you move to regional NSW as well?
Yes, on the same fixed price basis. Armidale, Inverell, Glen Innes, Gunnedah, Cowra, Forbes, Tamworth, Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst, Newcastle, Wollongong, the Central Coast and the Blue Mountains are all regular runs. A lot of removalists either will not go or charge a metro day rate for the drive.
Is there anything you can’t take interstate?
Paint, gas bottles, petrol, aerosols and anything else flammable stay off the truck. So do perishables, since the load is on the road for days. Live plants are restricted crossing some state borders under quarantine rules, and pets travel separately.
Can you move a piano or a pool table interstate?
Yes. Heavy and fragile items are crated or fully secured for the distance rather than just blanket wrapped, because a long haul puts different stress on them than a trip across town. See piano and heavy items.
What do you need from me to quote?
A room by room list of what is coming, both addresses, and your rough dates. The list is what sets the volume, and volume is what sets the price. If you are not sure how to write one, your coordinator will walk you through it on the phone.
